PILGRIMS
Ramallosa, an important route decision.
As soon as you arrive in Ramallosa you have to choose if you prefer the traditional way or a new one which goes by the shore. Whatever you like more, keeping in mind where your Vigo hostel is.
The original way doesn’t follow the touristic seaside, at the contrary it shows you the less urbanized areas, but most of the ways are roads now used by vehicles. This might be a handicap for you. The ending tho, follows the Lagares river through a well kept riverside walk.
Here you have a picture of an approximate representation of the original Camino. Please check a pilgrim specialized website like Gronze to get the details of the route points.
If what you want is to enjoy the very last big beaches of your Camino (playa América, playa de Patos and Playa de Samil), please choose the new coastal route. This is specially advised if you are bicycling for it has less hills.
Once you reach the Lagares river mouth (Coruxo in the map) we sugest you two options. First one is follow the river, rejoining the original Camino, or you can continue by the sea side and the city port area, called Bouzas.
The map shows you the first part from Ramallosa to Coruxo and then the two options.
This seaside way is not the original, so the map will lead you to the old town or to the city center (Plaza de España) directly if you go riverside, as a shorcut.
To summarize: You will see small villages, lots of roads and a full riverside walk if you use the original way.
If you follow the new coastal way, you will be able to enjoy the beaches and the port, or less beaches and the first part of the riverside walk; depending on the route you choose after Coruxo (Lagares river mouth) and where your hostel is located.
